A Star Lost 97% of Its Light for 9 Months — And Astronomers Know Why

Astronomers have confirmed that ASASSN-24fw dimmed by an extraordinary 97% over a period of more than nine months, starting in late 2024 making it one of the longest and deepest stellar eclipses ever recorded. The star, located in the Monoceros constellation, was monitored through sky surveys that track brightness changes in stars over time. The data clearly shows a prolonged and structured drop in light, far beyond what a normal planet could cause. Scientists say the most likely explanation is a massive ringed object passing in front of the star either a brown dwarf or a super Jupiter–type planet. Unlike typical transits that last hours or days, this event stretched across months, pointing to something enormous in size. The ring system itself is estimated to span about 16 million miles (25 million km), making it one of the largest ever inferred. As different parts of the rings moved across the star, they created layered dimming patterns, which allowed astronomers to study the...

Trump Pauses Iran Strikes for 2 Weeks — But Only If Hormuz Reopens Immediately

In a dramatic last-minute shift, Donald Trump has agreed to suspend planned U.S. strikes on Iran for two weeks, stepping back from what had been described as a looming military escalation just hours earlier. The decision came after urgent talks with Pakistani leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who pushed for a pause to allow diplomacy to take over. The pause, however, comes with a strict condition: Iran must immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most critical shipping routes in the world, responsible for roughly 20% of global oil flows.
If Tehran fails to comply, the threat of large-scale strikes on infrastructure including power plants and key facilities could return quickly. Trump described the move as a “double-sided ceasefire,” suggesting that both sides would hold off on further escalation during the two week window. The decision marks a sharp pivot from his earlier stance, where he had issued a “final deadline” warning Iran of severe consequences if it did not act immediately. Behind the scenes, Pakistan has emerged as a critical mediator, pushing both sides toward a temporary de-escalation while negotiations continue. According to reports, Iran has already submitted a proposal outlining possible terms for a broader agreement, and U.S. officials believe a deal could be within reach if talks hold. However, uncertainty remains high. Iran has previously resisted reopening the strait as part of a temporary arrangement, insisting instead on a permanent end to hostilities and broader concessions. That raises a key question: will Tehran accept this condition, or is this pause only temporary before another escalation?

Trump Orders Release of UFO and Alien Files — What Is the Government Hiding?

President Donald Trump announced that he is directing federal agencies to identify and begin releasing government files related to unidentified flying objects (UFOs), unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and alien or extraterrestrial life a move he says responds to “tremendous public interest” in the subject. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said he will task the Secretary of Defense, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, and other relevant departments and agencies with identifying and releasing files that touch on these topics, as well as “any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important matters. Trump’s announcement follows a recent public exchange in which former President Barack Obama said in a podcast interview that aliens are “real”  a comment he later clarified to mean that life likely exists elsewhere given the vastness of the universe, but that he had seen no evidence of extraterrestrial contact ...

Gunman at Rhode Island Ice Rink Kills Wife and Children Before Turning Gun on Himself — Six Victims Confirmed

A tragic shooting unfolded Monday afternoon at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, during a high school hockey game, leaving multiple family members dead and others critically injured in what authorities are describing as a domestic violence incident. Law enforcement officials say the gunman shot and killed his wife at the crowded ice rink before shooting two of his children, one of whom later died. The assailant then died of an apparent self‑inflicted gunshot wound at the scene, authorities confirmed. Several additional victims were struck and are currently hospitalized in critical condition. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. local time during a youth hockey game between local high school teams, prompting immediate chaos as players, families, and spectators scrambled for safety. Police say they believe the shooting was targeted and related to a family dispute rather than a random act of violence. Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves said investigators are ...

SWAT Raid Tied to Nancy Guthrie Case Ends in Tragedy — 1 Dead, 3 Detained, Another Self-Inflicted Gunshot

A SWAT operation connected to the ongoing Nancy Guthrie investigation in Pima County ended in tragedy, leaving one person dead, three others detained, and another hospitalized after a self-inflicted gunshot. The neighborhood remained under lockdown for several hours as law enforcement secured the area and assessed the situation. Authorities confirmed that the raid was tied to leads in the Nancy Guthrie case, which has garnered national attention following the discovery of blood on her porch and her ongoing disappearance. Officials stated that the raid was executed after a series of investigations pointed to possible suspects or persons of interest connected to Guthrie. During the operation, SWAT teams encountered armed resistance, resulting in a fatality on site. Three other individuals were taken into custody for questioning and possible charges, while another person sustained a self-inflicted gunshot and was transported to a nearby hospital. The circumstances surrounding the self-i...

DNA on Glove Could Crack Nancy Guthrie Case — FBI Gets Critical Lead

The FBI has identified a glove recovered from the Nancy Guthrie disappearance investigation that contains DNA appearing to match the masked man captured in doorbell camera footage. Authorities say the glove is distinct from others previously collected, making it a potentially critical lead in the high-profile case. Investigators are now analyzing the DNA to determine whether it can be definitively linked to a suspect. Officials stress that while the discovery is promising, it does not automatically confirm the identity of the individual responsible for Guthrie’s disappearance. The masked man, seen in surveillance footage outside Guthrie’s home, has been a central focus for authorities since the case first emerged. Combining this visual evidence with DNA recovered from the glove could provide law enforcement with the first concrete clue directly connecting a person to the scene. Law enforcement sources indicate that the glove was found in a location relevant to the investigation, th...

Scientists Finally Confirm the First-Ever Lone Black Hole — And It’s Closer Than You Think!

Astronomers have just made history — and it’s a cosmic game-changer. For the first time ever, scientists have confirmed the existence of a completely isolated black hole floating alone through the Milky Way, untethered to any star or companion. This discovery not only marks a major breakthrough in astrophysics but also proves that our galaxy may be filled with more “rogue” black holes than we ever imagined. The existence of isolated black holes had long been predicted by theory. After all, when massive stars end their lives in supernova explosions, they often collapse into black holes. But if no companion star remains nearby, spotting these invisible monsters becomes nearly impossible. Until now, the evidence was purely circumstantial. Thanks to years of patient observation using the Hubble Space Telescope and precise gravitational microlensing techniques, a team of scientists has finally caught one in the act — and it’s closer to Earth than anyone expected. The...

Trump Says Military Action Against Colombia Is ‘On the Table’ — A Stunning Escalation

President Donald Trump ignited a fresh geopolitical crisis after stating that U.S. military action against Colombia is “on the table,” accusing Colombian President Gustavo Petro of shielding allies of Nicolás Maduro following the Venezuelan leader’s abduction. The remarks represent a dramatic escalation against one of Washington’s closest partners in Latin America and signal that the Venezuela crisis is rapidly expanding beyond its borders. Speaking during a press interaction at the White House, Trump accused Colombia’s government of allowing Maduro loyalists, intelligence operatives, and financial networks to operate freely on Colombian soil. He claimed these networks are actively undermining U.S. efforts to stabilize Venezuela and obstruct the transition process.  While Trump emphasized that diplomacy remains possible, his language left little doubt that Washington is prepared to escalate if cooperation is not forthcoming. Colombia has long been considered a cornerstone of U.S...

Was Katy Perry’s Spaceflight Faked? Conspiracy Theorists Say CGI — But Here’s the Truth

Conspiracy theories are once again swirling across social media after pop icon Katy Perry appeared in a video from a Blue Origin space mission, prompting accusations that the footage was nothing more than a CGI Hollywood production. While the visuals from the flight show Perry in zero gravity aboard a suborbital capsule, critics in the Flat Earth and space-denial communities have claimed the entire mission was fabricated — with many insisting the star-studded mission was filmed in a studio, backed by green screens and special effects. These claims mirror the usual talking points of space-denying conspiracy theorists who routinely dismiss real science as staged entertainment, ignoring decades of documented spaceflight, international collaborations, and verifiable physics. In the case of Blue Origin’s mission, the flight was broadcast live, tracked in real time, and independently confirmed by multiple observers and agencies. Astronomers Uncover a Hidden Giant Planet and a Rare “Failed Star” Using Subaru Telescope

Astronomers have announced the discovery of a massive hidden planet and a rare substellar object, often described as a “failed star,” after combining observations from the Subaru Telescope with data from space-based observatories. The findings offer new insight into how diverse and complex planetary systems can be, challenging long-standing assumptions about where planets and star-like objects form and how they evolve over time. The discovery was made using the Subaru Telescope in Hawaii, whose advanced imaging capabilities allow astronomers to peer deep into stellar systems that are difficult to study with conventional methods. By merging high-resolution ground-based observations with space-based data, researchers were able to isolate faint signals that had previously gone unnoticed, revealing objects hidden within the glare of their host stars.   One of the most significant findings is a massive planet that had remained undetected despite years of observation. The planet’s size ...
